Spring is coming and the time is drawing ever nearer to another whale watching season. We are all a little anxious to get back out on the water after a winter of very few whale sightings, but we all know it is going to happen. Within a matter of weeks we will take to the water for another summer of adventure and surprises and who knows what lays in store for us. This will be my 13th season working as a naturalist and I still never tire of the beautiful scenery and the wonderful animals that call this place home - eagles, seals, sea lions, porpoises, and whales. I've had one encounter with the orcas so far this year - a lovely afternoon spent with a small part of J pod. They were in a very frisky mood and were spending much of their time playing while fishing for what they could. Our first official trip of the season will be upon us soon and I can only hope we have more encounters like this one.
